The CyBi®-Lumax flash performs photoprotein-based calcium mobilization assays such as GPCR and calcium channel assays with superior throughput and data quality. Its unique cell flash technology enables multichannel dispensing of cells with simultaneous flash luminescence detection. Cell-based and biochemical, flash and glow luminescence assays are all compatible with the CyBi®-Lumax flash with the same excellent performance. A single photon-counting, intensified CCD camera measures the signals of multiple wells from the plate bottom while a multi-channel, non-contact dispenser rapidly injects cells or reagents into the wells. Synchronization of dispensing and detection ensures accurate measurements in high throughput operation. Cell-settling effects are eliminated by recirculation of the cell suspension prior to dispensing and reading each plate. Dispenser pumps and nozzles are carefully selected to eliminate cell stress and retain the physiology and pharmacology of the cells. The complete automation of an assay process including plate storage, compound transfer, loading of cells with cofactor and flash luminescence detection is provided by the CyBi®-Cellight system.
